VEXTEC awarded electronic prognosis development contract
Nashville, TN., April 26, 2005 - The US Navy recently awarded VEXTEC a multi-year contract for development of electronic prognosis technology for the Joint Strike Fighter aircraft development program. Electronics devices fail mainly due to material failure within the module, printed circuit board or chip scale package. The Department of Defense (DoD) wants future high performance aerospace products with built-in “intelligence.” Embedded prognosis technology will enable such products capable of predicting their own need for maintenance or parts replacement in order to avoid mission or safety-critical failure and unexpected downtime.
