Making Products Better with Virtual Life Management (VLM).

Virtual TwinVirtual Life Management® (VLM) Engineering Software and Services  helps companies make their products better. If you are interested in accelerating product development, improving manufacturing consistency, modifying a product to meet a more severe in-service condition, or solving a durability issue that just can't be resolved any other way, VEXTEC can help. VLM Software and Services uses Virtual Twin (VT) models, a "soft copy," of a component, a complex system, or even an entire product fleet. VT models are setup and processed through the VLM software to predict product durability and life, often before a product is manufactured. By processing the VT models through the VLM software, we generate a detailed understanding of the parameters that influence your component's durability and what can be done to make your products better.

VLM technology models damage at the microstructural level, where damage occurs. VLM is a physics-based computational framework that accounts for a products material reaction to stress over time. VLM system simulates the stress a product experiences, the material's reaction to that stress, and the initiation and propagation of various damage mechanisms throughout the products life. VLM predicts product durability and life in 3D, on a cycle-by-cycle basis, at the microstructural level, while accounting for the inherent variability of material processing, product manufacturing and changes in in-service usage conditions. Here are a few examples of the results VLM has produced for customers:
• Matched design/material combinations to specific applications resulting in focused development program and market segmentation opportunities.
• A predicted change in operating conditions and lubricant reduced operating costs by $4 million annually.
• Identified optimum geometry/material combination and reduced cost 20+%; client achieved targeted cost and market price point.
