Software Engineer for Web Application Development |

Position Highlights:
- Build a cloud-hosted engineering analysis platform using open source technologies
- Create robust, data-intensive web applications used by engineers and scientists in multiple industries
- Develop prototype quickly utilizing your scientific/engineering research domain expertise
- Develop web user interfaces with AJAX and similar technologies
- Integrate web application front-ends with legacy back-end engineering codes
Requirements:
- Several years of software design and development experience, with extensive knowledge of Linux development environments
- Strong understanding of, and experience with, web application development
- Extensive programming experience in Python, Java, and/or C/C++; strong 00 skills required
- Javascript/AJAX experience highly desirable
- Extensive background in data intensive applications and distributed systems
- Strong understanding of web services, including RESTful programming models
- Experience with the following is highly desirable: JQuery, Google App Engine/Docs APIs, Cassandra/BigTable/other no-SQL database, AWS including EC2, S3, and SNS
- Experience with parallel programming models and/or HPC highly desirable
- Expert user of a broad range Unix/Linux developer tools (e.g. Eclipse, Maven, SVN, Bamboo, etc.)
- BS or MS in Computer Science or related technical discipline (or equivalent)
- A solid foundation in software engineering, with strong competencies in data structures, and distributed application design
- Experience with agile development process and tools (e.g. GreenHopper); demonstrated ability to work effectively in an iterative environment with changing user requirements
- Able to work remotely on a flexible schedule, with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication skills
Ideal proven experience:
- Hands on programming a webservice online application while starting with an off-line (PC-based) stand-alone environment
- The above application dealt with moving large datasets through the web
- Hands on experience with the Google application engine.
