ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

VPS-MICRO® Compliments AM Process Monitoring & Modeling for Certification

Additive Manufacturing (AM) has both tremendous potential and tremendous risk. The controlled low-volume production runs and on-demand nature can be offset by uncertainties in AM material properties and performance from part-to-part, and lot-to-lot. VEXTEC’s VPS-MICRO (fatigue prediction software) is an Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) tool. The software simulates fatigue at a microstructural level, where there can be significant variability in metallic AM parts. Without changing the required elements of the certification process, the technology can efficiently simulate important aspects:

Use a commercial AM machine to build parts and sense what is happening layer-by-layer, point-by-point, to create a high-fidelity 3D model of local properties.

VPS-MICRO simulates what would happen if that part was tested in fatigue.

VPS-MICRO accounts for critical features of as-printed surfaces (surface roughness, unique surface microstructure) and predicts their impacts on fatigue performance.

Only physically test the part when there is high confidence that it will pass the test, reducing costly repeats.

VPS-MICRO® Fatigue Prediction Software and Support Services by VEXTEC

VEXTEC provides software and services to predict and improve product durability. Our VPS-MICRO software helps clients virtually qualify their metal components for fatigue performance. It is an Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) tool for simulating fatigue at a microstructural level, where there can be significant variability in metal parts. Without changing the required elements of the certification process, the software can efficiently simulate what would happen if that part were tested in fatigue. This allows for physical testing of the part only after there is high confidence it will pass the test, reducing costly repeat testing.

VPS-MICRO® Fatigue Prediction Software Technology

VPS-MICRO fatigue prediction software predicts the life of manufactured parts by simulating the behavior of materials from which they are made.

Durability is not a function of applied stress alone, but rather a combination of stress and the material's reaction it.

Computer cycles are shorter and cheaper than physical testing cycles or prototyping.

The materials we use to build complex components and systems are not homogenous.

ABOUT US

We Are VEXTEC Corporation

VEXTEC Corporation provides fatigue prediction software based on ICME (Integrated Computational Materials Engineering) to predict product durability. This software fills a gap in the existing capabilities provided by CAD/CAM, FEA, statistical modeling, and physical material and component testing by effectively integrating them into a single computational processing framework.

What makes us different from other engineering consulting companies is our proprietary fatigue prediction software, VPS-MICRO®.

Software Subscription

VEXTEC is excited to announce that VPS-MICRO is now offered in a new turnkey support package, combining multi-year software subscription with:

  • Access to VEXTEC's materials library & knowledge.
  • Complete user training.
  • Option for floating license with multiple users.
  • Support from our team of skilled engineers and VEXTEC's 20+ years of fatigue durability expertise.

Our bottom line is "we succeed, when you succeed."
